Kinda True

You Are Bert

Extremely serious and a little eccentric, people find you lovable - even if you don't love them!

You are usually feeling: Logical - you rarely let your emotions rule you

You are famous for: Being smart, a total neat freak, and maybe just a little evil

How you life your life: With passion, even if your odd passions (like bottle caps and pigeons) are baffling to others

Opinionated People

If there is one thing that I really tire of it is people who think they know it all! Now these are the "know it all" people that claim to be experts in all areas. Don't get me wrong... I am more than willing to seek advice from someone when their experience or education gives them that knowledge. Personally, I am quite willing to look at other points of view even when I have strong opinions. Then I usually say something like "That's interesting.... I've never thought of it that way" and let it go. Surprisingly, the past little while I'll actually go out on a limb and flat out disagree but only when I am sure I know what I am talking about.

I've had experiences in my past where I've let others' opinions change some of my life altering decisions... and it sucks! Consequently, it makes me a bit testy and as I get older, I am less and less tolerant of those who think they "know it all". So when Crew's respite worker, who wears a size 24 (and weighs twice as much as I do), told me that exercising on an empty stomach will ruin my metabolism, it was all I could do to turn around and walk away.

SELF CONTROL

I've never been one to really pass up those yummy treats that I love. I've never been one for diets or detoxing.
Yep, I'm far from the master of self control. One thing I do have going for me is that I'm relatively active. How can you not be when your packing around a 30lb boy all day?
Thanks to M&M I've decided to take her challenge of "Taking Control" and go on a SUGAR FAST from now until Thanksgiving. I'm on day two already and proud to say I haven't touched anything with sugar.
It's only two more weeks! Anybody want to join me???

Lisa tagged me for the Eight Random Things about Me.
1. I almost always wear my shoes in the house. I get a lot more done if I have my shoes on. However, I'm not so stupid that I won't take them off if I'm visiting your home.
2. I'm reading for the first time in forever. I just finished "Twilight" and now I'm reading "new Moon". I'm loving this series!
3. I've been way lazy the last two weeks. I'm usually a morning person but since DH started his new shift I've been staying up too late thus making it real hard to get going in the morning. I'm kind of stuck in a rut and was feeling a bit depressed until I miraculously received a call today saying that Crew is finally eligible for respite services and medicaid. We've been waiting for this for 2 years. I'm about finished with the meds too so hopefully I will have the motivation I need to start running. I need you all to hold me accountable to exercise. I'm seriously considering posting a running total of miles run each month. I just need some motivation. Hmf!
4. Our power was out for 4 hours today. The kids didn't know what to do with themselves and I was feeling a little put out because I couldn't check my email, do laundry (which desperately needed me), or cook. I started sanding down the piano bench. The boys helped me too and I realized that I'm not going to get very far without some power and a powersander.
5. I need to call my Chiropractor and set up an appointment. My back has been killing me. It bothers me most when I'm trying to sleep and in the morning.

Seven Random Things

I've been tagged! Chel asked me to list 7 random things about me... this is going to be simple and like it says; totally random.

1. I love the smell of freshly cut grass. This love evolves from a childhood where our family owned and operated a sod farm. Between my siblings and I, we were responsible for watering and mowing over 40 acres of grass. Oh, and don't tell anyone but I frequently mow the lawn in my flipflops.

2. I can't stand filing my nails. The nail file is like fingernails on a chalkboard. It's just clippers for me so don't look close:) Oh, the other problem with my hands is that I rarely use gloves while gardening.

3. Okay, now that everybody is grossing out because you are thinking I have green toes all the time and dirty fingernails I will try to smooth things over by saying that I have to have my showers in the morning and I can't leave the house without makeup. Showering at night is fine as long as I shower again in the morning.

4. I have 3 brothers and 3 sisters. I love them all and strive to be cool like them each and every day. Oh, and my six SIL's are a gift from God!

5. I've never felt cheated for having all boys!

6. I'm so excited for the next Harry Potter book/movie! It's been a real long time since I've read anything other than church books but am looking forward to spending some time with a book.
7. I went through a phase in Jr. High where I quacked like Donald Duck for 3 years.

Well, that was pretty random, wasn't it? If you want to participate consider yourself tagged!

Who would've thought...

Today, I received a surprise from Tori. She nominated me for Thinking Blogger Award. I appreciate the nomination. I admire Tori. She is an amazing person, a great mom and always seems to make me laugh. Maybe someday we will actually meet:)
NOW IT'S MY TURN TO NOMINATE 5 BLOGS:
1. Lisa is the most amazing person! She blogs about parenting a child with special needs and her posts often leave you on the edge of your seat. She is a gifted writer and I truly admire her multiple talents and her ability reach out to everyone. I know Lisa personally and she will never know how proud I am to say that!
2. I can't remember if Angela found me or I found her. Right from the get-go it seemed we had found a little carbon copy of our boys, Jack and Crew. While they both have their strengths and challenges it's interesting how much they are alike. It's my wish to meet Angela and Jack someday but very unlikely since we are many thousand miles apart.
3. Attack of the Mouse deserves to be nominated because she reminds me each day to savor each moment with my children. K is the most creative and fun fun person ever. E is so lucky to have such an energetic and caring momma. K is my SIL and I love her and am so glad she joined the blogosphere:)
4. Christy's blog is an inspiring tale of living life in Alaska with her handsome little Elias. I'm new to her blog but instantly fell in love with her ability to express her thoughts and feelings which often mirror mine.
5. Chocolachille is a blogger that inspires me to think what life would be like living in South Africa.
OKAY, IF YOU WANT TO PARTICIPATE... HERE ARE THE RULES:
the rules:
1. If, and only if, you get tagged, write a post with links to 5 blogs that make you think,
